There are many fine, high-functioning, accomplished adults, outwardly successful, but feeling unfulfilled and disconnected within. These people had loving, happy childhood with well-meaning parents. But as they grow up, these adults struggle to find meaning in life and are left with a feeling of emptiness. Such problems usually gets masqueraded as depression, anxiety disorder, anger, or marital problems. This book helps you understand the invisible forces that must have affected your life, and the author terms this as ‘Emotional Neglect’. If you have ever been affected by suicidal thoughts or know a person struggling through the phase of emotional emptiness, then please read on. The affects of emotional neglect is self propagating from generation to generation. However, the emotional blind spots can be healed through awareness as an individual, as a parent, and raise emotionally and physically healthy children who later grow up to be emotionally nurtured adults.
My take on this book
This is an amazing book on mental health and is a must read and re-read that provides concrete workable solutions for invisible wounds. Putting a name/identity to your undefined feelings will greatly help to understand why you are feeling the way you are feeling! The book will help you become aware of your own feelings of emptiness and lack of fulfillment and help you work through it to lead a nurturing life.
